Studio
Where:
From the very beginning of our orchestra, we recorded a wide variety of music in the most beautiful studios in southern Germany among them the renowned Bauer-Studios in Ludwigsburg, who made themselves a name in Jazz all over the world.
Deutsche Rundfunktechnik has always set a standard in recording technology worldwide. So it was obvious to record our innovative albums where the heart of these innovative achievements beats: in the SWR studios in Kaiserslautern and Baden-Baden.
Our albums "A World Symphony" and "Das Lied" were created in the same place where Emerich-Smola, Strawinsky & Michael Gielen had already recorded.
We are also delighted about the ongoing collaboration with the fantastic team at the Kleine Audiowelt in Heidelberg, including Markus Born and Dennis Kopacz.
What:
We started with German folk songs in the Emerich-Smola studios in Kaiserslautern. Later came such interesting commissions as the recording of Chinese folk songs for guitar and orchestra or Indonesian folk songs with solo piano.
Several CDs with the crossover tenor Jay Alexander kept us at the top of the German classical charts for months.
We used the enforced concert rest in the Corona period for our most extensive album to date: “A World Symphony”, with international singers from Lebanon, Senegal, Italy, Turkey & Russia.
Next:
Our next CD “Das Lied” deals with German Romanticism and presents such audience favorites as “Mondnacht” with orchestra for the first time.
It features such outstanding classical singers as Julia Sophie Wagner, Daniel Ochoa, Andreas Post, Jay Alexander & Frederic Mörth.

With this CD, the Orchester der Kulturen presents both a retrospective of its first 10 years and an insight into what might be on the cards in the future.
Sacred works, such as Adrian Werum’s remarkable re-working of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Ave Verum”, stand side by side with cross-cultural symphonic pop songs, such as “Sonbahar” and “Für mein neues Vaterland.
Longtime collaborator, Jay Alexander, sets new artistic accentswith Robert Schumann’s “Im wunderschönen Monat Mai”.
One of the most beautiful voices in contemporary Middle Eastern music, Abeer Nehme, also features as part of the musical discoveries to be heard in this collection.
Similarly, Mohammad Habbal and the Philharmonia Choir Stuttgart with their fusion of the Arabic hymn, “Mowteni” and Ludvig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”.
